OLD IRON

My gate leg table imported from England (Norma), found a home yesterday!! Woo hoo!!!! I know she will look fantastic anywhere she sits in a room. I am a crazy about old iron and I found several pieces the other day and I will be taking them to my space one day this week. These are seriously “one of a kind”. My babies, Otis an Selena are ready to get outside and lay around in the warm sunshine, so I think I am going to join them this afternoon and maybe plant a few pansies. I am so ready for summer!

Happy Monday everybody!!

I have been nonstop this weekend. I took some more fantastic accessories to Southern Estates Antiques Saturday. Here’s a few photos
of my room. To everyone who has bought something from me…. a BIG THANK YOU!! My first month has been a good one!! I hope February will be even better since I have 20% off on all furniture this coming month. I need the room for several new pieces I am finishing up. I even have a great piece with wallpaper on it. Barb, I have to hand it to you, working with wallpaper is not that easy to do on furniture. Maybe I haven’t done enough to be comfortable with it, but it differently un-nerves me!! I work 30 minutes and take a 15 minute break! hehe

Where’s the Sunshine?

Where’s the Sunshine? We have had too many rainy days in Greenville I always feel so much better when the sun is shining. I try to rummage around on the weekends looking for great bargains on furniture or accessories to re-sale, so I hope this weekend will be nice and sunny. Since I owned a furniture and gift shop for years, I can spot high end furniture a mile off!! No, I am not bragging!!! But when you eat, sleep and breathe furniture for years as I did, it becomes a normal process……Look for the best quality for the best pricing around. I have champagne taste on a beer budget and if it’s a bargain for me….it will be a bargain for you!!! I found this pair of salt and peppers shakers last week. I thought they were unusual. They are new with tags still on them and the clerk said she thought they may have solid silver in them. I didn’t really care about that so much…..I just liked the look of them. What do you think? You know, I should become a personal shopper. I also found a large black and brown leather Vera Wang handbag for $5.00. Looks new and I love it!

One of my first painted furniture pieces

Here’s a photo of a night table I purchased at a yard sale on the way to visit my mother several years ago. It's one of my first painted pieces. It’s made by Dixie Furniture and is a well-made solid heavy piece. I like the clean lines of it.

Found Goodies

Found Goodies!! I left my day job in a rush to check on an American Drew chest I had seen the day before and it was less than 2” too wide to fit into my SUV so I had to leave without it. I bought a few great accessories, but I left without the chest and so disappointed!!! I just could not stop thinking about this chest, so I told a friend of mine about the mishap. He said, no problem, I will pick it up for you. OMG!!! Now another hurdle, is it still there? And “yes”…..there she sat waiting for me to bring her home!!! So, one more painting project added to the list!! I know it probably sounds crazy, but I am so happy I got this chest!! I can see her transformation in my mind and hopefully it will be as beautiful in real life when I finish!! Ha

Always need accessories!!!

I have been working on accessory items the past week and taking them to Southern Estates Antiques to decorate my space and you can tell I am a newbie at this……I totally forgot to take pictures. DA!! I have so many things in the store and not a single picture to show you. Sorry!!! I am going back in the next few days and maybe I won’t be so distracted this time and I will take a pictures to show you. I found a very old piece of imported china and another one that was popular in the 50’s, so I started looking around for old crystal candle sticks so I could make cake plates. I lucked up and found enough to make several different styles and sizes. Lots of fun!! I also have made the ever popular Southern “Redneck wine glasses”. My brother had to take several back home with him!!! Conversation pieces if nothing else!! Haha

New Year .....New Changes

Hello everyone!!! I have not been on here in a while. It’s hard to believe 2012 is here. I have added a few new pieces to the mix. New year….new changes for me. I have decided, with the advice of Barb Blair at “Knack” to move my furniture family to Southern Estates Antiques located at 415 Mauldin Road Greenville, SC 29605 (864) 299-8981. They are open 7 days a week for your convenience, so go check it out. Now I can have my garage back and actually have enough room for my car and room to work on future projects. I finished Hope and here’s a photo of her. I was in a hurry as usual and I forgot to show you inside the drawers, so I'll just tell you. She is totally green on the inside. These are not great photo's but my plans are to take more photo's this weekend and I will post asap!!! I also would like for you to meet Marcel and Marceline. They have a Moroccan vibe to me. Maybe it’s because of the vibrant colors. All of my furniture is available for purchase locally at Southern Estates Antiques 7 days a week and can also be purchased directly through me.
