HUGE 50% off SALE

The past few months have been crazy for me. I have tried to keep things moving in my room (#0378) @ Southern Estates Antiques. I have some awesome vintage pieces that I just marked down to 50% off for a limited time only. First time ever doing a 50% OFF. I hope you will take the time to stop by,shop with me and save $$$$$. I had a vendor tell me that every time they pass my room it makes them smile. Not all antiques need to be painted, but if everything in a room is dark mahogany, oak, etc., it just brings you down!!! A custom painted antique with details just gives a room that “WOW” factor!!! I hear so many people say, I love that, but it won’t go with anything in my room. If you love it, it’s your style. Put a little piece of you in your room. You will be amazed how good it will look!!! Take a leap of faith and don’t be a “Rooms to Go” kind of gal, let your style put a smile on your face every time you come home!

Here's more!!

Fall is near!!

It has been a long time since I have posted anything on my blog, but the last few months have been a nightmare for me. My mother passed away in August and it was by far the worst days of my life. I am trying to stay focused on work, painting and just everyday things but thoughts of why, why, why am I doing these things without a smile on my face!! I am so sad and heartbroken that my mother is gone forever and ever and all of these things mean nothing to me. I hate that feeling!! And then I can hear my mother saying. “do not look back….always look forward”. So, that’s what I am going to do out of respect for my mom. She would not want me to drown in self-pity, but pull myself up and keep on going. I have been posting new finished pieces of furniture on facebook that I have finished and put in my room at Southern Estates Antiques. (ROOM# 0378). I hope you like them. If you see a piece of furniture you like but would like to have it in a different color, please let someone know at the store and I will be glad to paint it in your preferred color for a small fee. Here is a few new pieces to show you. Enjoy!!

Forgot about Doinique

Dominique is my favorite piece and I totally forgot about her. She has 5 drawers, solid walnut by American Drew. Painted ASCP Graphite and old white with large white rose knobs. I love the graphite finish on this piece. Some of the original finish shows through on the top and it looks amazing. More fabulous pieces coming soon!!!

New in town!!

I found the most amazing pair of vintage French provincial night tables this week. For the first time in years I decided to go to an Estate tag sale. I was in heaven…….without a lot of money. I could have gone crazy buying all the amazing French provincial furniture. It’s going to be extremely hard to let go of these tables. I have never seen another one like these. I will take a few photo’s tonight and give you a sneak peak later. The same for the desk I just finished a few weeks ago. I have searched the internet trying to find a desk like the one I found and I have yet to find one. I love it when I have a truly have a one and only “One of a kind” piece of furniture. It makes it all the more wonderful for me. Since this desk is painted in Antoinette pink and old white, I will name her Marie Antoinette. Met Aussie, a three drawer mahogany 1940’s dresser with a french poem written down her front and wallpaper inside her drawers and Constance, a 1930’s solid mahogany 4 drawer dresser with french script written on the top center. I finally got them to Southern Estates Antiques last Sunday, so they are ready for you to give them a new home.

It’s been awhile

Hello everyone. It’s been awhile since I have been on here. I just don’t have a lot of time these days!! I usually have lots of flowers planted by now and I haven’t done that either this year. I have been painting every spare minute I have, which is not very much, but I have several new furniture pieces I am trying to get ready by the weekend so I can get them to Southern Estates Antiques. I have found the most awesome solid mahogany and maple dressers, chest and a desk from the 1930’s, 40’s and possibly 60’s era. I can’t wait for you to see them completely finished but I am going to give you a sneak peek of my work in progress on a few of the pieces and keep in mind that they are not completely finished yet!! I hope you like it!!

Give me your opinion

I started this post 3 days ago and I am just now getting around to actually posting it!! This month has been very exciting for me at Southern Estates Antiques!! More and more of my shabby chic furniture and accessories are finding new homes and it is a wonderful feeling to know people like my work. I guess the nice warm days have encouraged everyone to start redecorating. I found an old vintage french provincial desk with a hutch built onto the top with 2 doors and an old dresser and mirror last week that I just could not pass up!! Now I have to decide what color I am going to paint these awesome vintage pieces. If you have any suggestions, please share them with me. I also have a 1930’s waterfall chest I found months ago and it’s still sitting in my garage!!! I have sat and looked at it for the longest time and my mind is blank on a color!! So please help… tell me what you would like to see.

All about accessories for a room!!

I started out painting old vintage furniture for myself and then I went on to selling to others. If you have ever painted a piece of furniture you already know how time consuming it is to get what you think is the right color choice and once it is finally finished you can stand back and say to yourself, I love it!! But now during my searches for furniture I am always finding the most unusual accessories that speak to me and I just can’t leave them behind, so they end up home with me. Some of these pieces are vintage and tell a story, some are from other parts of world and found their way to Greenville. I think your personal unique accessories add character to a room. I custom paint a few of these pieces which makes them “one of a kind” and also helps them to blend nicely into today’s modern style. So, off they go to Southern Estates Antiques in Greenville, SC. Here are just a few of the things I have found just for YOU

Summer Weather in the South

Love’n this summer weather!! Henrietta, my solid mahogany coffee table by Henredon found a wonderful home last week. An interior decorator bought my big wood and iron fish which doesn’t surprise me. I know it will be in a wonderful home to be enjoyed for years to come. I have been making a lot of trips to Southern Estates Antiques with new awesome unique accessories and a few smaller vintage furniture pieces the last few weeks. I feel like a gypsy!!! I can be on my way to the grocery store and it is not unusual for me to find the greatest pieces just waiting for me to put my personal touches on it. I will take more pictures and show you the latest and greatest in the next few days.

Bird Houses

I have been so busy this week. My brother and his wife have been here visiting my mother, so a lot of family members have been in and out of my house all week. I took a few afternoons off to enjoy visiting with everybody and my mother loved everyone being around. Now, let’s talk about birdhouses. I just found out yesterday that my cousin builds awesome birdhouses. I was so impressed with the workmanship and the intricate detail he has put in these birdhouses I ask him to let me show them off. So I will have them for sale at Southern Estates Antiques this weekend. If anyone would like to have a customized “one of a kind” birdhouse, he will do that too.

Thinking of Spring and warm weather

I have been selling a lot of my accessories at Southern Estates Antiques so I had to take more things over this weekend. It won’t be long before Spring is here, so I tried to take things that would remind us winter is almost over….I hope anyway!!! I have a few pictures to show you, so here's just a few of the accessories that I took over yesterday....

Not just another Monday or me

Yesterday was not a typical Monday for me. I left work at noon to go to a chiropractor. My back has been bothering me and it has moved down my arm and into my fingers, so I figured it’s about time to do something. A pinched nerve or feels like it. My brother gave me my first visit as a Christmas gift. It’s a good thing too because this one time visit was $220.00. Wow!!! Thanks, Doc but I won’t be back, not at those prices!!! I can’t afford it! It did help a little but more visits were needed to totally solve my problem. My company does not offer medical insurance and it’s a shame medical expenses have hit the roof over the years. So I can’t afford to ever be sick!! It’s a good thing I am notorious for trying to heal myself. Sometimes I can get myself well with home remedies and only when that doesn’t work, then I break down and go to the doctor. So, that was Monday for me!! How about you? How was your Monday? Debra

Update on "Hope"

It has been a very busy weekend. I took a few accessories and I gave "Hope" an update. I was not happy this her look, so I refinished her in old white ASCP with pink wallpaper to Southern Estates Antiques this weekend. I ordered gorgeous wallpaper from Belgium a few weeks ago and it finally showed up Saturday. Woo hoo!!!! I was so excited to see Fedex knock on my door. Now I have got to find the perfect piece of furniture to show it off. When I arrived at Southern Estates I realized several of my pieces found new homes this weekend. It is a great feeling to know people like your work!! A BIG THANK YOU!! I will keep you posted with my latest creations!! Debra

Eclectic

I am very eclectic!! I think I have old world charm mixed in with a touch of modern in every room in my house. I took a few photo’s at lunch today of old vintage pieces I refinished years ago long before shabby chic was so popular. Except for the rug. I was in love the minute I saw it!! Here’s a peek! !

Cold Weekend

This weekend was very cold so I had to warm up my garage so I could get a few things finished up. My babies, Otis and Selena (Boston Terriers) do not like the cold either. They stayed close to the heat while I painted. Finally around 2:00, I loaded up my car and headed to Southern Estates Antiques. Here are a few things I managed to get a photo of before leaving. I also sell accessories and most of them, as you already know, are “one of a kind”.
