Thinking of Spring and warm weather

I have been selling a lot of my accessories at Southern Estates Antiques so I had to take more things over this weekend. It won’t be long before Spring is here, so I tried to take things that would remind us winter is almost over….I hope anyway!!! I have a few pictures to show you, so here's just a few of the accessories that I took over yesterday....

Not just another Monday or me

Yesterday was not a typical Monday for me. I left work at noon to go to a chiropractor. My back has been bothering me and it has moved down my arm and into my fingers, so I figured it’s about time to do something. A pinched nerve or feels like it. My brother gave me my first visit as a Christmas gift. It’s a good thing too because this one time visit was $220.00. Wow!!! Thanks, Doc but I won’t be back, not at those prices!!! I can’t afford it! It did help a little but more visits were needed to totally solve my problem. My company does not offer medical insurance and it’s a shame medical expenses have hit the roof over the years. So I can’t afford to ever be sick!! It’s a good thing I am notorious for trying to heal myself. Sometimes I can get myself well with home remedies and only when that doesn’t work, then I break down and go to the doctor. So, that was Monday for me!! How about you? How was your Monday? Debra

Update on "Hope"

It has been a very busy weekend. I took a few accessories and I gave "Hope" an update. I was not happy this her look, so I refinished her in old white ASCP with pink wallpaper to Southern Estates Antiques this weekend. I ordered gorgeous wallpaper from Belgium a few weeks ago and it finally showed up Saturday. Woo hoo!!!! I was so excited to see Fedex knock on my door. Now I have got to find the perfect piece of furniture to show it off. When I arrived at Southern Estates I realized several of my pieces found new homes this weekend. It is a great feeling to know people like your work!! A BIG THANK YOU!! I will keep you posted with my latest creations!! Debra

Eclectic

I am very eclectic!! I think I have old world charm mixed in with a touch of modern in every room in my house. I took a few photo’s at lunch today of old vintage pieces I refinished years ago long before shabby chic was so popular. Except for the rug. I was in love the minute I saw it!! Here’s a peek! !

Cold Weekend

This weekend was very cold so I had to warm up my garage so I could get a few things finished up. My babies, Otis and Selena (Boston Terriers) do not like the cold either. They stayed close to the heat while I painted. Finally around 2:00, I loaded up my car and headed to Southern Estates Antiques. Here are a few things I managed to get a photo of before leaving. I also sell accessories and most of them, as you already know, are “one of a kind”.

GET INVOLVED

I wish I had a cure for evil. Just take this pill and you would never take advantage or abuse anything or anybody ever again. I just went into my facebook and saw a picture of a baby dog that had been abused and it made me cry and if you know me personally then you know, it takes a lot to make me cry! I can’t post the picture because I can’t bear to look at it, but believe me, its bad. This really touched by heart and it’s hard to believe there are those people walking and talking among us!! I am an easy going person and I’ll be the first one there if you ever need help, but you want a fight? You’ve got one with me if I ever see anybody abuse an animal, a child, an elderly person or anybody helpless to defend themselves. It takes an evil person through and through, working directly for the devil to do these things. I am asking EVERYONE to please don’t be that person to look the other way because you don’t want to get involved. If you even suspect anybody of doing these things, if nothing else, call the police…..do something, anything to help!!!!

Southern Reputation

People in the north think of the south as being redneck. I was born and raised in the south and in some parts of the south, yes it’s true, they are redneck. Some area’s I think they actually pipe sunshine in! hehe!! Just kidding, but I was out shopping a month or so ago and I saw these redneck wine glasses. I looked it over and thought……wow, I can make those!!! So I buy all of the supplies that I think I will need and I start making them. So cute, and they are great for filler up and go!! And to top it off, it’s no spills in the car or flying bugs to get into it outside as well as a great conversation piece for those non-southern people!!!! I also started making one of a kind cake plates too!! The cake plates I make are really awesome and some are very old imported china with crystal glass and some are just unusual and different!! Like I have said before, I like different. Here are a few pictures to give you an idea of what they look like and I sell them at Southern Estates Antiques in Greenville, SC.

Before and After

It was a gorgeous weekend with sunshine and warm days in the south!!! Love it!! I worked in my yard while Otis and Selena ran around. I hope you had a great weekend too!!! I actually found the time to clean up my garage. So much dust from sanding!! I really need a studio!!! I also finished two pieces I have been working on for a while. These have wallpaper on them either inside, outside, or both which is a lot of work…. for me anyway. I am love’n the finished pieces but man, it’s a job!! I forgot to take a photo of the inside of the end/night table, but it has wallpaper also. I will take a quick photo today and post it later. These are finished in Ann Sloan chalk paint and clear wax. Since I started my blog, I have found so many talented, creative, and amazing people. It inspires me to be more creative and to think outside the box. So, I would appreciate your thoughts…tell me what you think!! Meet before and after…Marissa (Chest) and Junette (end/night table). Marissa would look great in a bathroom, hallway or bedroom and Junette in a den/living room or bedroom. They will be at Southern Estates Antiques in Greenville tomorrow.Pin It
